My Statement:
This piece called "A Winning Smile" comes from when I and my swim club won the State championships and I was able to hold the trophy for a while. In creating this piece, I used linoleum to carve out my piece and print using an oil-based paint. I chose to do this piece in general because of how honored I felt when I was able to hold on to the trophy my team righteously earned. My goal was to be able to illustrate pattern and balance between light and dark within the piece. In my opinion, I thought I did well because I added tons of patterning as well as including a fair balance between my lights and darks. As for something I could improve on, I would probably work a little more on some of my carving skills only because in some spots, I felt I carved either a little too much or too closely to the point I lose space for my dark spaces.
