My Statement:
This piece is called "Facing the Nature" because it involves my cat "Jake" facing towards our plants that resemble much of Earth's nature itself. There's also a quote in the piece that describes how cardinals associate with a visitor from heaven. Both of these things go to show the beauty of nature in which my cat seems to like. In creating this piece, I used an etching tool to carve out the lines and areas of shade in the piece and used ink to cover those carved spots in order to print it off. I chose to do this piece because my cat has yet to be in one of my pieces and I thought including him in this project would be a beneficial factor. A couple of goals I had in mind were being able to have value as well as being efficient with the etching process. I felt like I did well with the values, but not so much for the etching efficiency as trying to etch the quote was rather challenging to me. Otherwise, I liked how it came out and I was able to at least give my cat a shot in the spotlight.
